MVPS Maize By Design Kindergarten - 8th Grade

Who are we?

–           A Culture of enrichment and excellence for all learners

–          Curriculum choice – MVPS teachers collaborate with parents and students to create an individual learning plan in the Maize by Design program.  Each student’s plan of study is formulated to meet grade-level objectives/learning goals. 

–          Community – In addition to our teachers’ partnership with parents/students, MVPS offers opportunities to connect through online interactions and in-person activities around the state.  

–          21st Century learning skills – We are preparing students for careers and jobs that don’t even exist yet! We do this through engaging core content that focuses on creativity, critical thinking and problem-solving, hands-on learning, and executive function skills. 

Benefits of Maize Virtual Preparatory K-8 Program

–          Focus on the Individual Student – Our teachers focus on individual academic plans for all students. Our families work with their teachers to develop a success plan.  Students are encouraged to go beyond their curriculum and explore learning, not just check boxes. 

–          Focus on Teaching Kids, not Curriculum – Maize Virtual Preparatory School families have curriculum options.  Through the Maize by the Design process, each student receives a unique program of study.  This is created after the student meets with a teacher to complete a family conference.  We believe building on each student’s strengths while addressing growth areas is the best way to create a solid educational plan.  At this conference, the student will complete a short academic assessment and interest survey.  The parent and teacher will work together to create the student’s individual learning plan (ILP).
