New Curriculum – What to do with your books and boxes

July 11, 2019 Posted by admin Getting Started, K-8, Organization, Uncategorized
July means boxes of materials begin arriving.
And…
New curriculum is oh so cool and exciting!
The questions now is “What should you do with all of those materials?”
1. Inventory Your Curriculum –
With one student at a time, use the provided packing slip(s) to insure all items are included in the shipment. Go through all materials when received.
2. Inspect Your Materials –
look for possible damaged materials and report to the vendor immediately.
3.  Determine Back-ordered Items (if any) –
with the packing slip or a sticky note, write a reminder in the front of  your Instructor’s Guide with the back ordered item.  This will remind you to look for the item at a later time.
4. Shelve and HIDE materials!  Shelve materials for the first quarter where students will have easy access.  For instructional materials to be used later in the year, enjoy perusing, then HIDE them!  Put those materials away so students will maintain excitement for learning throughout the year.  This will also aid in teaching your student Wait Power.

5. Identify each student’s materials with various colored sticky dots. While completing inventory, have each student place a dot on the back lower corner or spine of his/her books.

Students will be able to easily determine the owner of books, which will save time and energy!

With your materials organized, you are ready to launch a great 2019-20 school year.
