In order to ensure that your student has the best curriculum to meet their academic goals, all students have the option of completing a placement test. These evaluations provide your Education Specialist/Education Support Team with detailed skill strengths/weaknesses. Placement tests are parent-evaluated for Kindergarten through Third Grade.
For Fourth through Eighth Grade, a Calvert Placement Counselor makes a recommendation after carefully evaluating the test. The Placement Counselor will examine the student’s performance and consider his or her educational history and current educational needs when making a grade recommendation.
Please note these tests are optional and not required by MVPS!

Primary Assessment for Kindergarten through Third Grade (optional)

General Placement Test (Includes Math) for Fourth through Eighth Grades
Primary Math Placement Test for First through Third Grades*
This test is for use only if you are planning to enroll your students in a higher primary math level. It is used to determine if your kindergarten, first-grade or second-grade child is prepared for first-grade, second-grade, or third-grade Calvert Math.
